Donations in support of The Night Field

Support At The Village Level

Although I do not write stories out of conscious planning and intention, I can sometimes work back and trace the memories, people, events, and places that inspired them. The Night Field embodies a pattern of abusive agriculture that resonated through Nazi work-camps, chattel slavery, share-cropping, penal farms, and the invasion of Central America by U.S. fruit companies, but its direct inspiration came from heroic small farmers of India who found a way to raise cotton without the killing costs of pesticide. If Pyn-Poi’s story touched your heart, please join me in supporting them at the village level.

Support At The Regional Level

You can help by contributing to the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture. CSA envisions to become a national institution to lead the transition of Indian agriculture to become ecologically and economically sustainable. Their mission is to care for those who feed the nation by 1) Conducting research on agroecological farming methods and their impact, 2) Assisting farmers and consumers in successfully transitioning to organic, 3) Building vibrant rural enterprises and producer organisations, 4) Enhancing the last mile delivery of support services, and 5) Improving the governance of public policy systems.

Support At The Global Level

A lot of the science in The Night Field is inspired by ecotipping points theory. If you enjoyed the book and want to support the work of gathering, analyzing, sharing, and supporting community-level ecological success stories worldwide, you can’t do better than to support the Ecotipping Points Project—and check out the website for stories of healing and hope. Teachers, especially, take note of the ready-to-use classroom materials available there.
